Ames True Temper 2370500 Reel Easy Decorative Hose Reel Review

Don't buy this product. The feeder hose comes out of the box at ground level and thus must make a 90 degree turn. The hose was kinked at this point as it came out of the box. There is no way to fix the kink. The only possible way this product can be used is if the left side is hung out over a deck or step so the hose can come straight down and make a gradual turn. I went to ACE and got an elbow and some hose clamps to make the turn. No way a customer should have to do that!

Ames True Temper 2397200 Decorative Swivel Wall Mount Hose Reel With Antique Bronze Finish With 100-Foot Hose Capacity Review

Just received. Reel looks good and is sturdy. Yet to put to use, because THE BOX DID NOT CONTAIN THE LEADER HOSE! I will contact the manufacturer - but warn others to be sure to check for all parts. Evidently Ames is not too diligent about such.

Ames True Temper ReelEasy Assembled Hose Reel Cart 2385575 Review

I concur with the other reviewers...this really is junk.It leaked like CRAZY (as in water flowing all the way to my neighbor's driveway within the first 10 minutes) and no amount of tightening could stop it.You could never really use the "handy" reel-it-in feature, since the whole contraption is too flimsy to support its own weight. Then it broke one day, just from falling over while I was unreeling hose...the whole handle just broke right off.Other parts soon followed.

I tried to use it until the end of the season, but the leaking progressed to the point where I finally just put it out on the curb the night before trash day.Not surprisingly, nobody garbage-picked it...;-)

Soooooo not worth any money saved!Get a better model.

Ames True Temper Reeleasy Hose Reel Cart 2386275 Review

I bought this item from HomeDepot. It started leaking in the first season itself. I did a mistake of calling Ames about the leak, I should have returned to the store.

Ames sent me parts, I replaced according to instructions. Leaking stopped then started again after a month. Called Ames again, they sent me parts again. This time leaking did not stop. Called Ames again, they sent me another part, replaced that too. Leaking does not stop. Finally called Ames for replacement, did not wanted to continue replacing parts. They refused to send replacement cart, they said they can only send parts and it should stop the leak.

I gave up, garbaged this hose reel. Waste of my money and time. Shopping around to buy new one. Trying to decide between RapidReel Wall Reel and ReelSmart Outdoor Sink Station with Auto-Rewind.

Ames True Temper 2391200A Decorative Bronze Wall Mount Hose Reel Review

I've used several cheaper hose reels from different manufacturers (I have an acre of garden and over 1000 ft of hoses scattered around the property) and this one is much, much better quality. It is all metal, the central "axle" or shaft is machined from solid aluminum (not just cast, or worse yet, plastic) with a good sized snap ring on the end, hose fittings are solid brass and very sturdy, the handle is sturdy and well made (and "keyed" to the central shaft with a bolt that goes through it and the shaft, not just a "set screw" type friction attachment that will eventually wear and spin on the shaft when you try to roll up a long/heavy hose), and the supplied hose (to connect to your faucet) is heavy duty. If you know something about metal machining and understand the difference between solid machined parts and cheaper cast (or even worse, stamped) metal parts you'll appreciate the quality of this hose reel. I'm going to replace all of my cheaper reels (which are all leaking and malfunctioning or falling apart in one way or another after just a couple years) with this model. And Lowe's has it for just $75. Compared to the much lower quality (and mostly plastic) reels that sell for $50-$60 or more, it is more than worth every penny.

Liberty Garden Products 3-in-1 Garden Hose Reel With 200-Foot Hose Capacity 703-1-Bronze Review

The hose reel has one very bad fault. The fitting for the hose is outside the reel, so you have to run the hose through the side of the reel and to the fitting. When you roll up the hose, it kinks because of the tight curve, and, puts such a strain on the fitting that leaks are also a problem.I bought 2 right angles, 3 two-inch pieces, and hose fittings and brought the fitting to the inside of the reel and it works fine now.Another problem is when you pull only a short section of hose off the reel, it keeps spinning and unreels the rest of the hose onto the floor.
It will do, but certainly is no more than that.Definitely too high priced for what you get, and the modifications you have to make.

Ames True Temper 2388700 Hose King Hose Reel Review

While the hose reel looks nice, the included feeder hose leaked at the metal fitting (not the washer), which I had to replace. The reel leaked at the plastic part where the main hose attaches to the reel (the O-rings needed replacement). And worst of all, the plastic hose connection for attachment of the main hose to the reel was so poorly made it looked essentially stripped.Using extreme care I managed to attach the hose successfully.So...you take your chances with this product.
