Gilmour Extra Large Coverage Impulse Sprinkler 998ZS Review

I've had this for one season so far, and this sprinkler works well.I've tried many sprinklers to find one that covers enough of my lawn to not make watering a pain, and this is finally it.

Pros:

1.Largest coverage I've seen so far.It doesn't quite cover what they claim, but it is by far the largest coverage of any sprinkler I have.
2.Very even coverage.I've put rain gauges in various places, and the watering is pretty even no matter how close or far away you measure it.
3.Fast watering.My measuring was about 0.25 inches per hour.

Cons:

1.Requires high water pressure and very high GPM to work correctly.If not, your coverage will be poor, or it will stop turning all together.I had to modify my plumbing to handle this (which was for the better anyway).

Gilmour 999TD1 Extra Large Coverage Sprinkler with Adjustable Tripod Base Review

While this sprinkler needs sufficent water pressure to function properly, and I've only had it for 2-3 weeks, for the price it is a quality product that is exceedingly better than the $30+ garbage that you will find in Home Depot or Sears. Covers a hude radius. Customer service was excellent, for when I emailed them to try to determine the difference between this model and the model 999TP, they emailed me back the same day and advised that the TP is the same product but is sold to retailers in packages of 6.After reading the negative reviews on the TP model about feet bending, the sprinkler collapsing and disintegrating the first time they used it, I spent the extra $10 to get a second TD1 model, but cannot imagine that happening to either model, even if there is a difference. My only complaint is that the threads on the plastic coupler where you attach the hose can be easily stripped by the metal male end of the hose, so either avoid overtightening the hose or buy a plastic adapter with a shoutoff valve for $3, the shut-off valve on the adapter comes in handy when you have to move it.A lifetime replacement guarantee can't hurt, either.

Gilmour Metal Impulse Sprinkler on Zinc Sled Base 967ZD Review

I bought one in 2006 and it still works great....I just ordered another one so I would not have to take the one I have off one hose and move it to another hose....I leave my hoses and sprinklers outside all year. ( I live in Zone 8) ... I bought the plastic impulse Gilmour with the timer earlier this year but it moves too fast and I loose too much water to evaporation, it has always looked like it would break easily.

Nelson Adjustable Pattern Control Gear Drive Sprinkler with Flow Control on Rezimar Wheel Base 50250 Review

I had one of these that sat in my shed for several years before I actually really tried using it. After seeing how great it was I now have five or six of these things.

The greatest aspects of this sprinkler is the myriad of adjustments that it is capable of...and the fact that one can make those adjustments standing over the sprinkler while it is sprinkling thereby enabling one to see exactly what the adjustments are doing. With most other sprinklers it is prudent to turn off the water, make the adjustment, turn the water on to see what the adjustment did, turn the water off, fine tune the adjustment, turn the water back on, etc. etc.

This is a wonderful product.

Nelson Cast Iron Square Spray Pattern Stationary Sprinkler Head 50951 Review

I love this little sprinkler. With our community's 60 pound water pressure it covers a decent sized area. It throws pretty large drops so the water falls back onto the lawn instead of blowing or evaporating away. And it doesn't take long to saturate an area.

I did notice that since it has such a low profile, longer blades of grass next to it can get caught in the flow and interfere with the spray pattern. I just pluck them out of the way before I turn on the sprinkler. I'm not sure the pattern is all that sharp of a square, but it is square-ish, and that's good enough in our yard.

I think it's a great sprinkler for kids to play in. It has no moving parts to break and no sharp edges to step on. And the flow can be adjusted downward until it's a gentle bubbler. It is cast iron and weighs a pound or two, so it could be painful if one of the kids decides to swing it around on the end of the hose like a mace. Other than that it should be great for play on a hot summer afternoon.

The sprinkler technology here is vintage and bone simple -- it's a cast iron chamber with a little hole in the top. There's nothing to fail or break. With a little care -- very little -- it will last for years and years. You might want to smear a little grease in the threads to keep them from rusting, and occasionally remove it from the hose end to keep the two from rusting together. Every few years a spritz of spray paint will keep it looking like new.

Ray Padula RP-BPZS The Pulse Brass Pulsating Sprinkler on Zinc Spike Review

My father used to use a sprinkler head just like this in the 1950's.I've searched, in vain, for a comparable sprinkler for over 40 years.

Finally, someone re-made the old design with excellent materials.

This sprinkler has some drawbacks.First is the learning curve.The instructions are awful and you just have to experiment with the various adjustments until you can understand how to get it to do what you want it to do.It took me about an hour to look up the instructions on the internet, and, experiment with the unit until I understood how to adjust it.

Second, the unit will tend to flood out ground in and around the spike.Jets of water come from the bottom of the sprinkler head to provide water to an area about 2.5 feet in diameter around the head.This allows you to provide for complete watering of any area, including the area holding the spike.However, there is no way to adjust the output at the head itself and it is about 100% more than is necessary to water in and around the sprinkler head.

However, these minor drawbacks do not otherwise diminish an excellent sprinkler head that is adjustable in three dimensions to provide exactly the type of shower you want for your sprinkling purposes.

The materials are strong metal.There are no plastic moving parts.Why is this good?Because if you damage or bend one of the parts, accidentally, you have a chance of re-shaping it and repairing the unit.Anything plastic works well on the drawing board, but, in practice, any plastic part will break, especially if it is a moving part, and the chances of being able to find a substitute part are minimal or next to nothing.Even if a manufacturer does offer replacememnt practice parts, then you sprinkler head is down for a week or two while you order it and it is delivered.

One more good point about this sprinkler is that no one has tried to digitally enhance it.That may sound funny, but, frankly, a solid design like this, with no digital enhancements to suck up your time, is becoming more and more attractive in this age of over-gadgeted digital marketing.

The polished zinc spike, of course, will not deteriorate, and, is more than strong enough for you to use pressure to get it into the ground to hold the sprinkler head.

In all, this is the best, most versatile, and, most durable sprinkler head you can ever purchase.It is well worth the money.

Nelson 50955 Eight-Pattern Spray Stationary Sprinkler Head with Plastic Base Review

This is a nice item, and I really like the freely rotating coupling. But the price Amazon is charging for a plastic sprinkler is outrageous. I picked it up for 1/4 the price at a local hardware store ... and that was not on sale! I consider it a great deal under $4. I would willingly pay 7-8 bucks for it, but not much more than that.

Gilmour Telescoping High Rise Sprinkler 894 Review

Having seen similar items locally (but at a much higher price), I couldn't resist the price Amazon offered, and sure enough a couple days later a rather large box was on my doorstep.When I opened it up, I saw what appeared to be a bit smaller and lighter weight than I imagined (though consistent with the facts provided), but I quickly expanded the telescoping shaft and staked it into the ground.Many other sprinklers fail to deliver the promised range, so I was surprised to find it exceed the stated coverage area (quickly fixed by dialing down the spigot).

All things considered, I'm very happy with this sprinkler, and I'm sure it will get the job done in the garden this summer.I docked it a star for being rather lightly built (no issues thus far).

Gilmour Oscillator Sprinkler with Built-in Timer 9930D Teal Review

I really like this sprinkler. It is guarenteed for life so anyone that has a problem can have it replaced. The 'cheap' plastic per other reviewers comments is what gilmore uses on all their products and is also guarenteed for life..so if it breaks call and get new one. Mytimer has now been working all summer. You do have to set it each time. Maybe the other reviewer only did once and thought it was done. I love that it shuts off after a certain time so if I forget it doesnt and this will be my 2nd one. The stores sell out like crazy which is why I came here.

Gilmour Pattern Master Oscillating Sprinkler Teal 8800D Review

Yet another good concept poorly executed.It changes direction at each end so slowly that it drowns the grass at the ends and barely waters the middle section.It's big, fragile, and so loose that you wonder if it's broken.Also, the adjustment knob is difficult to turn.The only good thing about it is the pattern width adjustment which, while hard to adjust, does provide for a nice range of narrow to wide patterns.Aside from the the drenching it gives at the ends of the sweep, its very nice for watering narrow strips of grass or narrow gardens.

I've used this sprinkler for a little backyard garden I have and for keeping my grass from drying out in the very windy South Texas heat.

The problem I had was that it stalls and just sprays one area. I thought that I just had a defective unit until I got a second one with the same "turbo heart" brand.

It turns out that the flimsy plastic used to keep the oscillation going around the turbo heart motor will skip off track, stalling out the unit.this would be great if it was made of solid metal, but the plastic parts just make it a weak design with performance that's not worth buying (even on sale).

Ray Padula RP-SPTS Silent Pulse Turbine Pulsating Sprinkler with Tripod Base Review

I thought spending [...] on a sprinkler would give me something that would last me more than one season and make my life a bit easier, I was wrong. i'll just give you the pros and con rather than a drawn out explanation

Pros:It has good range, its quiet, I liked the mist setting, it had great range and coverage, if I could ever get the thing going and standing up

Cons: the spikes on the tripod are plastic, they won't dig into the ground at all, they bend and I have to assume would break fairly easily with regular use, the thing falls over just about every two seconds.

Pretty much the whole thing is plastic actually, it feels really chinsy, except the tripod is some kind of cheap metal(aluminum I suppose),

The sprinkler head leaks from all over the place, I tightened it to the max and it still leaked from where the hose plugged in to the tripod, plus for some reason it was literally pouring water from the middle of the head somewhere I couldn't see. I can only assume mine was damaged during transit, and that's why it didn't work properly, but for an outdoor tool you would think they would make it out of more durable materials.

Anyway after reading the great bio on the owner of the company I thought this was going to be the greatest thing since sliced bread, guess what? I was wrong, and I won't be buying any of their products again...

Nelson Multi-Pattern Spray Oscillating Sprinkler with Flow Control and 3,750 Square-Foot Coverage 50936 Review

I can't tell you how much I love this sprinkler, but let me try. This is one of those adjustable sprinklers that doesn't require a degree is Engineering to adjust. It's very simple and straightforward. You have multiple spray patterns that include a super thin one, which is great, because I get tired of accidentally watering my neighbors lawn. If he wants his lawn to look nice, he needs to water it himself!

Not only can you control the pattern (from really wide to really thin) but you can also control how far it goes my adjusting these neat little clamp thingies. So when the spray hits my fence it can switch direction and spray back the other way. I now have 2 of these and I love them.

The metal is very sturdy, not flimsy like a lot of that plastic crap out there that will tip over when you turn on the water.
