I got the sprinkler around the first of August. To give you an idea of what kind of use it's getting-I have a 1k square feet area that I'm renovating with sod quality bluegrass. The sprinkler has been running at least 1.5 hours everyday for the past 2 weeks. It was also used every other day for at least an hour before that.
Even though its plastic, It seems to be made very well. I've tried not to drop it or pull on it to move the hose but inevitably it happens.
I have low water pressure, so I can't comment on the water pressure adjustment. The dial works.
I like the on/off buttons to turn off some of the jets. I had an oscillating sprinkler with a dial to open (or widen) the spray. When I would widen the spray, the coverage in the middle wasn't as good. So I think this is a better design.
As far as the 'wave dancing action'. Its a pulsating action as it oscillates. It works well and provides an even coverage.
With adequate water pressure this sprinkler would cover a large area. Both of my yards are around 1k so and I have trouble keeping the water limited to my yard, so I would guess the sprinkler would work great for areas ranging from 1k -3or4k
EDIT: 6.4.10 The sprinkler stopped working. Its stuck spraying to one side. I've emailed the company twice for a replacement and haven't got a response to either email. Needless to say this will be my last purchase of a Ray Padula product.
EDIT: 6.23.10 I've contacted the support and sales department. No response. Don't purchase any Ray Padula product with expectations of a warranty.
